I tried it with or without the track input set to MIDI or rec armed, with the effect on the item (but not the track), and with the effect on the track (but not the item). Here, Megababy records fine if right clicking the note in megababy triggers the same pitch as connected virtual MIDI keyboard. If octaves don't match, then no note is recorded into Megababy of course.
