WebJul 10, 2024 · 7.3 Boomer. I can't get a standard 1/2" drive socket on the top, passenger side trans bolt hiding behind the stock down tube. Not enough purchase with a universal joint & extension to my breaker bar. Socket doesn't want to grab onto bolt. I've ordered a "shallow" socket. WebNov 13, 2015 · The axle shaft has to come out anyway but it doesn't help with the flange clearance. There is enough room to do it without removing the flange (I've never needed to) but some say it makes it easier. As far as the exhaust - I believe the manual says to disconnect it but I've never had a problem with it.
