WebIt sounds like your keyswitch is bad. The way outboard keyswitches work is that they stop the engine by grounding a wire that comes out of the powerpack and runs up to the keyswitch when you turn the key to off. This is the stop circuit. It sounds like the keyswitch is grounding it in the run postion (but not the start position). WebAug 30, 2014 · Turn the key to the run position, it would start right up and idle fine. If the starter is turning but the motor is not, then the starter is likely the problem. Either that or the teeth on the flex plate are all gone.
